One usually thinks twice when leaving Kootenay life behind during the playful months of summer.
Although I admit when the reason to leave BC’s finest is to hike Europe’s Mont Blanc Circuit there was no thinking required. I was in. AND when I threw the idea out to a handful of my hiking friends they jumped IN too!
The excitement bubbles as I anticipate walking in France, Switzerland and Italy. Visions of alpine meadows, grandiose glaciers paired with dear friends, great food and a glass of white dance in my head.
The proverbial list has been made: Euros - Check. Camera - Check. Extra laces – Check. Waterproof Gear – Check. Insurance – Check. Passport – Triple Check.
I keep asking myself “Did I train enough?” Here’s hoping I’ve logged enough kilometers. Heaven knows I’ve got the mosquito bites to prove it.
A few days from now we’ll be lifting-off from the Rocky Mountain town of Kimberley to a cool Mountain town in the Alps. Chamonix is where this exciting foot-powered adventure begins.
I’m in. No thinking required!
Salute!
Diane
